DSME clinches LNG order

Project & Tenders

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of South Korea has secured its first LNG carrier order for 2015.

One of the world’s largest shipbuilders said in a statement that it will build a 174,000m³ eco-type LNG tanker with ME-GI propulsion units and dual-fuel diesel-electric (DFDE) engines.

The deal is worth about US$ 200 million. DSME did not reveal the name of the customer.

The Korean shipbuilder scored 37 LNG carrier orders in 2014, the most of any shipbuilder in the world.
