U.S. offshore rig count inches its way up

The number of offshore rigs in the U.S. continues its slow and steady upward progress, based on Baker Hughes’ weekly rig count report from last Friday.

Baker Hughes Rig Count: U.S. -1 to 542 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is down 1 from last week to 542 with oil rigs down 2 to 443, gas rigs up 1 to 99, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 0.

U.S. Rig Count is up 255 rigs from last year’s count of 287, with oil rigs up 232 gas rigs up 26 and miscellaneous rigs down 3.

The U.S. Offshore Rig Count is up 1 to 13, unchanged year-over-year.

Baker Hughes Rig Count: Canada -4 to 164 rigs.

Canada Rig Count is down 4 from last week to 164, with oil rigs down 5 to 93, gas rigs up 1 to 71.

Canada Rig Count is up 81 rigs from last year’s count of 83, with oil rigs up 51, gas rigs up 30.
