FERC reveals EA schedule date for FGS’ LNG project

The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a schedule for the environmental review of Floridian Natural Gas Storage’s proposed liquefaction and LNG storage project in Martin County, Florida.

FGS proposed to amend its existing authorisations and modify the authorized Phase 1 facilities by changing the 4 billion cubic feet full containment tank to a 1 Bcf single containment tank and reducing the associated vaporization capacity from the original 400 million cubic feet per day to 100 MMcf per day. In addition, in the proposed amendment, FGS is modifying the capacity of the vapor handling system using reciprocating boil-off gas compressors rated at 1700 horsepower (hp) and 650 hp to 1622 hp and 400 hp. All modifications would be located on a previously authorized site, near Indiantown in Martin County, Florida, FERC said in its notice.

No construction has commenced on the FGS LNG facility to date.

According to the notice, FERC plans to issue the environmental review on June 10. The deadline for the federal authorization decision has been set to September 8, 2015.
