Tekmar’s scope of work includes the engineering, manufacturing, testing and supply of its CPS technology to protect the project’s subsea inter-array and inter-platform cables.

The company will manufacture the CPS and accessories at its Newton Aycliffe facility in the North East of England for delivery in late 2022.

Van Oord, which is to install foundations and inter-array cables on the German wind farm, previously installed Tekmar’s CPS on Windpark Fryslân, Borssele and Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farms.

“We are delighted to secure this new award from Van Oord which strengthens our long-standing relationship that has delivered successful offshore wind projects over the years, particularly in Europe, which remains the largest market for offshore wind installations in the world”, said Russell Edmondson, managing director at Tekmar Energy.

The Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm is located northeast of the Rügen island off the Pomeranian coast in the Baltic Sea in a water depth of 40-45 metres.

The 476 MW wind farm will comprise 50 wind turbines of 9.525 MW capacity, expected to be commissioned by 2024.
