GECF to play influential role in forecasting gas markets

Secretary General of Gas Exporting Countries Forum Mohammad Hossein Adeli has said that the forum will join the international organizations publishing short, medium and long-term forecasts in the gas market.

Adeli pointed to completion of a world gas model in 2014 by the forum, adding that based on the model, GECF will start projecting world gas markets akin to what is done by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and British Petroleum (BP).

He added that by releasing these reports it is expected the forum will be able to play an influential role in forecasting gas markets, noting gas producers and consumers will have access to the forecasts to use them for doing business in gas markets.

According to him, forecasting gas market developments are subject to some variables including the share of gas in world energy markets, supply and demand, trends in gas producing and gas consuming countries and other factors which will be used for analyzing the markets in short-term, medium term and long term.
