MHI Vestas Soon to Reveal Taiwanese Offshore Wind Localization Plan

Business & Finance

MHI Vestas is planning to soon reveal its localization plan for the offshore wind sector in Taiwan.

MHI Vestas announced the plans after formally signing the preferred supplier agreement for the 300MW Zhong Neng offshore wind project.

According to the company, the local industrial partnerships will be announced in the coming weeks.

“MHI Vestas has been an active and dedicated partner in the development of the local supply chain for more than two years. In close collaboration with our customers and the government, we are putting the finishing touches on the sector’s most ambitious localisation plan,” said Maida Zahirovic, MHI Vestas Business Director, Taiwan.

“We applaud the steps our local partners are taking to prepare for offshore wind and to become globally competitive. Our passion and motivation has always been to deliver on the promise of offshore wind in Taiwan. Together with our industrial partners, we are doing that.”

In October 2018, MHI Vestas and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) signed a localization agreement for offshore wind projects in Taiwan.

The news came after the turbine supplier signed a preferred supplier agreement with CIP and China Steel Corporation (CSC) to deliver its 9MW turbine platform units for three projects.
