Shearwater GeoServices has secured a contract by Petrobras to carry out 3D and 4D monitoring for towed streamer seismic acquisition in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil.

The 3D and 4D programs will be conducted in a period of nine months by the SW Empress, over the Marlim, Albacora, and Voador fields.

The Norway-headquartered seismic exploration company is planning to start the work late in the second quarter of 2021.

“Brazil has one of the most advanced programs of deepwater 4D seismic monitoring for reservoir management,” said Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater GeoServices.

“This large 4D towed streamer seismic award by Petrobras adds significant backlog to the substantial programs already awarded to Shearwater in Brazil.”

At the beginning of the year, Shearwater won a contract for deepwater ocean bottom node seismic acquisition for Petrobras’ Tupi and Iracema projects in Brazil’s Santos Basin.

Prior to that, Shearwater’s win with the Brazilian oil and gas giant included an OBN 4D baseline survey over the Jubarte field in the Campos Basin from November 2020.
