Wales enlists tidal & wave research help

The government of Wales has hired marine consultancy ABPmer to undertake initial research focused on sustainable management of marine resources in Wales.

The work under the contract, worth a little over £90,000, will focus on the sourcing, consolidation and standardization of existing environmental evidence, and on identifying knowledge gaps, primarily in relation to tidal stream energy, wave energy and aquaculture.

The outputs of the contract will provide information on evidence needs to support the sustainable management of marine natural resources, and support the implementation and use of the Welsh National Marine Plan, according to the contract notice on the Welsh government’s procurement portal Sell2Wales.

ABPmer is a Southampton-based marine environmental consultancy that assists public and private sector organisations with the management and use of large marine data sets to support decision-making. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Associated British Ports Holdings.
