Emera seeks Development Manager for tidal projects

Canadian energy and services company Emera is looking to hire a Tidal Project Development Manager responsible for the management of tidal energy projects.

The scope of work for the position includes project management work related to project development including site development and assessment activities, regulatory applications and permits, and stakeholder consultations.

Also, the job entails managing grid connection studies and research work to develop innovative technology solutions for environmental and performance monitoring, according to Emera.

The role also includes project management work related to tidal energy project operations including technology monitoring and assessment and oversight on deployments, retrievals, operations, maintenance and commissioning.

Reporting to the Vice President, the Tidal Project Development Manager will also work closely with internal and external parties including commercial partners, government and non-profit organizations in the development of tidal energy.

The deadline for applications is set for February 9, 2017.

Emera owns a 3.3% interest in OpenHydro, a DCNS company that designs and manufactures marine turbines to harness energy from tidal currents, accoring to the company’s website.

Emera and OpenHydro have in 2014 established a joint venture Cape Sharp Tidal with the aim to deploy a fully grid-connected 4MW tidal array in the Bay of Fundy.

Cape Sharp Tidal deployed the first 2MW tidal turbine in the Bay of Fundy in November 2016. The second turbine is planned for installation in 2017, completing the 4MW array.
