CorPower looks for engineers

Sweden-based wave energy developer, CorPower Ocean, has opened two new engineering positions within the company.

The developer behind the wave energy device whose design was inspired by the pumping principles of human heart, CorPower Ocean, is looking to expand its team by adding a new Senior Electrical Engineer, and a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer.

Senior Electrical Engineer will be working with mechanical, modeling, software and systems groups to define electrical system requirements and detailed design.

Also, the successful candidate will perform electrical system design work, produce wiring diagrams and bill-of-materials, produce technical documentation, test plans, user manuals and engineering calculations, and be a module owner of electrical systems within the wave energy converter (WEC), and associated grid connection.

The scope of work for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, who will be a primary owner of design and testing of mechanical modules of the WEC system, includes performing 3D design and produce 2D drawings in Solid Works, perform strength and fatigue analysis using FEM tools, amongst other tasks.

Both positions are based in Stockholm, Sweden, where CorPower is currently performing dry rig tests of its 1:2 scale device, which will be followed by ocean testing in Orkney in 2017.

To remind, early in November the European Commission granted a €4 million grant to CorPower for its WaveBoost project that aims to improve the reliability and performance of WECs, and was also selected to demonstrate its technology at one of Europe’s world-leading ocean energy test facilities free of charge under the €11 million EU-backed FORESEA initiative.
