MPS, Swansea Uni collaboration gets recognition

Research & Development

Marine Power Systems (MPS) and Swansea University collaboration on wave energy project has been declared a winner of the research and development category at the Insider’s Business and Education Partnerships Awards 2016.

Insider’s Business and Education Partnerships Awards, held on November 3, celebrate collaborative work between universities, colleges and companies in Wales.

MPS and Swansea University were declared winners of the R&D category, in addition to eight other winners of the night.

“This collaboration helped to de-risk the technology and commercial case for Marine Power Systems’ wave power technology. Judges liked its local partnering and potential global impact,” it is stated on Insider Media’s website.

To remind, late in August MPS announced collaboration with Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies (ASTUTE 2020), a five-year operation led by Swansea University to support industrial research, development and innovation.

The collaboration involves undertaking research in finite element simulations that will allow MPS to de-risk the build and test-stage of the WaveSub power take off float.
