Wave Hub has awarded a contract to James Fisher Marine Services for the installation of four cable tail extensions at the test site off Cornwall.

Under the £2.8 million contract, James Fisher is tasked with the installation of four 33 kV rated cable tail extensions from the current dry mate connectors to four developer berths offshore Hayle.

The scope of work includes replacing the current 11 kV rated dry mate connectors with 33 kV rated in-line joints, installing four new lengths of cable tails, and terminating the extension cables with half of a 33 kV dry mate connector.

The power joints and dry mate connectors supply contract has been awarded to subsea cable specialist engineering firm ETA.

Wave Hub, a test site off Cornwall, provides shared offshore infrastructure for the demonstration and proving of offshore renewable energy technologies.
