Peterson to support OneSubsea on project in Trinidad

Energy logistics provider Peterson has agreed a project logistics services contract with OneSubsea to support its work on the BP-operated Matapal project in Trinidad and Tobago.

The contract award will see Peterson deliver turnkey logistics support to OneSubsea for the project, including undertaking the heavy moving and lifting, materials management, loading and discharging and associated services for three of the subsea structures that will support the Matapal project.

Peterson said on Wednesday that mobilisation will occur from the ChagTerms base in Chaguaramas from October 2020 and will continue until June 2021.

Maarten Spiljard, Regional Director at Peterson, said: “We are delighted to work with OneSubsea and support them on this important project for the region”.

Obinna Okafor, Project Manager on the Matapal project for OneSubsea, added: “Peterson has proven to be a reliable partner for execution of subsea projects and together we have already successfully met several milestones. We look forward to the successful execution and delivery of the project in the coming months”.

The contract will be active for a period of one year, with both parties intent on exploring further opportunities across the Caribbean region.

When it comes to the Matapal project, BP sanctioned the gas project off Trinidad back in December 2018.

The project will be a three-well subsea tie-back to the existing Juniper platform.

With a production capacity of 400 million standard cubic feet of gas a day, first gas from Matapal is expected in 2022.

In December 2019, BP awarded a three-well contract to the semi-submersible rig Maersk Discoverer for development drilling at the Matapal project.
