MPS hires ACS Testing ahead of WaveSub deployment

Business & Finance

Marine Power Systems (MPS), a Swansea-based wave energy developer, has hired ACS Testing to test sediment samples at the MPS’ WaveSub planned deployment site.

Testing and analysis of seabed sediment has been carried out by ACS Testing in order for MPS to gain a full understanding of the site where the anchors of the WaveSub device will be placed, MPS press release reads.

WaveSub quarter-scale device will be tested at FaBTest, a test area situated 2.8 km2 within Falmouth harbor, in 2016.

Gareth Stockman, Managing Director of Marine Power Systems, said: “We are currently at the stage where we need to rigorously assess the seabed surface to finalise the anchor specification to be used at the test site. We felt working with ACS Testing Ltd was the best option for this, due to the company’s reputable expertise in this area.”

MPS’ WaveSub project has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, with the company receiving a £2 million grant in October 2015.

ACS Testing is a UK-based company that offers quality material testing and consultancy service to the building, construction and civil engineering industries.
