Bombora chosen as finalist for WA Innovator of the Year awards

Authorities & Government

Bombora Wave Power has been selected as one of the finalists for the Western Australian Innovator of the Year awards.

WA Innovator of the Year program aims to promote and acknowledge the success of Western Australian innovators, encourage co-support from industry for promotional activities, activate and strengthen industry-government research collaborations, and engage communities throughout Western Australian regions in innovation.

Bombora Wave Power has been nominated as one of the finalists in the Mitsubishi Corporation Emerging Innovation Category for creating a system that efficiently converts the oceans’ wave energy into electricity, for which the pre-revenue prize amounts to approximately $18.500 (Au$ 25.000).

Commerce Minister Michael Mischin said each finalist would receive support and access to free information to assist them in taking their innovations through to commercialisation.

Mischin said: “The State Government recognises the importance of innovation and the transition to a commercial outcome, and through programs such as the WA Innovator of the Year, it can support and help develop these innovations through to commercial reality.”

The awards ceremony will be held on November 4, 2015.
