Atlantis has granted Global Energy Group (GEG) a preferred supplier status for the provision of certain fabrication, manufacture, assembly and logistical support services.

Atlantis will enter into a lease at GEG’s Nigg Energy Park for Shop 1, located in Scotland, and use the facility for turbine assembly and testing.

“At the Global Energy’s site Atlantis will be establishing a dedicated facility for the assembly, testing and commissioning of tidal turbines and will also undertake the construction and fabrication of foundations. We’ll use the new extended quayside at the Nigg facility for all of our offshore operations, and it’s also related to ongoing operations and maintenace,” Tim Cornelius, CEO of Atlantis, said in an interview for BRR Media, a digital communications platform.

Gordon Ronaldson, Executive Vice President of the GEG’s Process & Equipment business, commented: “We see a real opportunity through this acquisition to establish Scotland as the centre of excellence for the sector, in terms of IP ownership, project development and manufacturing. We look forward to welcoming the enlarged Atlantis group to Nigg Energy Park and to supporting their various projects in Scotland and throughout the UK.”
