Basque Gov organizes second Bilbao Marine Energy Week

The second edition of Bilbao Marine Energy Week will be held in Bilbao, Spain, from April 20 to 24, 2015.

The event is organized by the Ente Vasco de la Energia (EVE) – Basque energy agency, Tecnalia and Bilbao Exhibition Centre.

The conference will discuss the main issues of interest to the marine energy industry.

Panel discussion on research and development priorities to accelerate the development of marine renewable energy is scheduled to take place on April 22, and will feature, amogst others, Ignacio Martí, Innovation & Research Director at ORE Catapult.

Tim Cornelius, CEO of Atlantis Resources will participate at Ocean Energy Conference scheduled for April 23, together with Brendan Corr, CEO of OpenHydro, during the session Advances in the development of Ocean Current Turbines, chaired by Barry Carruthers from ScottishPower Renewables.

Rémi Gruet, CEO of Ocean Energy Europe, will chair a panel discussion Ocean Energy – Challenges and Opportunities.

The session will try to answer questions about the requirements for paving the way of the sector’s commercialization in the longer-term, as well as the political and economic conditions necessary for project roll-outs.

Technical visits to Mutriku wave generating plant and Bimep research center are set up for April 24.

The event will take place at Bilbao Exhibition Centre.
