The premises are located on the Boardwalk and Roosevelt Avenues in the Stockton Atlantic City Residential Complex.

Atlantic Shores signed a ten-year lease, effective as of 15 July, with an option for two five-year extensions.

“As we progress development of our first wind project, we know it’s important for the Atlantic City community to have access to us right where they live. We look forward to meeting and listening to residents, advocates and local organizations at this space and using it as a venue to offer educational lectures and labs”, said Chris Hart, Managing Director of Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind.

Atlantic Shores is a 50:50 joint venture between EDF Renewables North America and Shell New Energies US LLC.

The special purpose company holds development rights for an offshore wind zone located some 14 to 32 kilometres off the New Jersey coast, between Barnegat Light and Atlantic City, covering some 183,000 hectares.

Within the lease area, which has the potential to accommodate 2.5 GW of installed offshore wind capacity, the developer plans to build multiple projects over the next decade.

Site investigation and characterisation surveys have been under way since May and will continue through the autumn and winter.
