Burlington Bay Project Available for Comment

The Lake Champlain Transportation Company is seeking a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District to conduct work in waters of the U.S. to expand and maintain an existing marina in Burlington Bay in Burlington, Vermont.

The Company proposed to expand and maintain an existing commercial marina and reconfigure existing ferry slips in Burlington Bay of Lake Champlain off of King Street in Burlington.

According to the Corps, proposed work includes expansion and maintenance of the existing docking facility, reconfiguration of the existing ferry slips, reconstruction of the existing retaining wall and maintenance dredging works.

Maintenance dredging will be performed in an approximately 9,350-square-foot area within the basin to a depth of approximately 8 feet below the horizontal plane of mean low water. The dredged material will be disposed of at an upland, non-wetland location offsite.

Deadline for sending public comments on this work proposed by the Lake Champlain Transportation Company is September 6, 2018.
