Ørsted contracts LOC for work on Greater Changhua offshore wind project

Project & Tenders

LOC Group has secured a contract with Ørsted to provide marine warranty survey services (MWS) for the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind farms in Taiwan.

Under the agreement, LOC will provide MWS services for the transportation and installation of the inter-array and export cables.

Technical document review and operational approvals will be undertaken by the company’s London-based team, with support from LOC Singapore and LOC Seoul. Site attendances will be resourced by LOC Taiwan, established in April.

The cables, including 95 inter-array cables and 16 platform connector cables, will be fabricated by LS Cable & System in South Korea.

“We are delighted to support this significant project, which reflects LOC’s strength and expertise in renewables and the region,” said Tim Camp, Renewables Projects Director at LOC.

“It is also a milestone for Taiwan and an indication of the significant progress that Taiwan is making in the development of offshore renewables. We are looking forward to supporting this project and to contributing to its successful completion.”

The Changhua 1 and 2a offshore wind farms will feature 111 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines installed on jacket foundations some 35 to 50km off the coast. The projects will have a total capacity of approximately 900 MW.
