The AIS data shows that Vole au vent is currently en route from the UK to Halifax, Canada.

The wind farm’s turbine components and the monopile foundations arrived in Halifax in late April.

The 12 MW CVOW will comprise two Siemens Gamesa 6 MW turbines installed some 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach.

The project will mark the first time that wind turbines supported by monopile foundations have been installed anywhere in the Americas.

The demonstration project is being developed jointly by Denmark’s Ørsted and the US energy company Dominion Energy.

The two turbines are expected to provide the operational, weather, and environmental experience needed for the 2.6 GW development in the adjacent 112,800 ha lease site expected to be operational by 2026.
