Next Geosolutions to carry out Viking Link marine survey works

Next Geosolutions has secured a contract by Prysmian Group for marine survey works in support of the route engineering and design of the Viking Link interconnector project.

The company’s scope of work includes full geophysical, geotechnical and UXO tasks covering the onshore, nearshore and offshore phases.

In-field operations have already commenced with the mobilization of the in-house DP2 MPSV Ievoli Amber and the Roxanne Z Multi-Cat in the port of Great Yarmouth.

Viking Link will be a 760-kilometer DC interconnector line between Revsing in southern Jutland, Denmark, and Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire, UK.

Prysmian will manufacture and install the entire 1,250km cable for the submarine route and all of the approximately 135km of land cables on the UK side. NKT will manufacture and deliver the onshore cables to be installed in Denmark.

The 1,400 MW interconnector is scheduled to begin commercial operation at the end of 2023.
