IMCA names new diving technical adviser

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) said that Phil Towers has joined its team as Technical Adviser – Diving.

Towers has experience in the subsea construction industry having held diving roles with operators BP, ExxonMobil, Qatargas and Repsol Sinopec.

He also spent major part of his career with what is now TechnipFMC as discipline expert in Diving and Operations Support.

To that end, Towers provided assurance to clients in the safe planning and best practice execution of projects.

Towers was a working diver for 18 years. He worked on projects around the world using air, surface mixed gas and saturation diving techniques.

Bryan McGlinchy, IMCA’s diving manager, stated:

“Phil brings a wealth of experience that will benefit IMCA members and the diving industry in the development and sharing of diving best practices.

“Phil previously worked with IMCA providing auditing services and participated in various committees and workgroups developing guidance documents.”

Towers holds a Bachelor of Science degree, with honours, in mechanical engineering.
