Spain: IREC Organizes Wind Energy Master with URV

The IREC and the University Rovira i Virgili (URV) organize the Master in onshore and offshore wind energy with the aim to enable students to design, plan, implement and operate wind farms.

The recent Renewable Energy Plan 2011-2020 made by Spanish government forecasts onshore wind power growth of 20,000 to 35,000 MW and up to 750 MW offshore wind only in Spain. The success of this plan depends not only on funding but also on human resources that can be organized throughout the chain of this activity.

Companies, technology centers and government agencies need professionals with specific training in wind energy.

From the engineers working on the wind resource characterization, development and promotion of projects, planning grid, the environmental impact of wind turbine manufacturing companies and each of its components, assembly, logistics and installation of wind turbines and offshore wind farms, along with their civil and electrical infrastructure, including the operation, maintenance and operation, are sectors in the wind industry for which this postgraduate program provides an answer.
