Woodside taps TechnipFMC for Australian subsea job

TechnipFMC has been awarded a significant integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (iEPCI) contract by Woodside for the development of the Lambert Deep and Phase 3 of the Greater Western Flank fields, located offshore Northwestern Australia.

For TechnipFMC, a “significant” contract is worth between $75 million and $250 million.

TechnipFMC said on Tuesday it would design, manufacture, deliver, and install subsea equipment. This includes subsea production system, flexible flowlines and umbilicals for connection to the Angel platform in permit area WA-3-L.

The Angel gas processing platform is located about 120 kilometres north-west of Karratha. It is connected to the North Rankin Complex (NRC) via a 50 kilometres subsea pipeline.

This is the second contract under the recently announced five-year iEPCI Frame Agreement between TechnipFMC and Woodside.

Arnaud Pieton, President Subsea at TechnipFMC, commented: “This is Woodside’s second consecutive award adopting our Subsea 2.0 platform, confirming our common ambition to transform subsea economics through integration, standardization and configurability”.

Woodside is proposing to develop and produce hydrocarbons from the Goodwyn GH Reservoir and Lambert Deep Field to support ongoing production from the North West Shelf Project.

The proposed activities comprise the drilling of four new production wells that will be tied-back to existing subsea infrastructure via subsea Xmas trees, flexible flowlines, production manifolds and service umbilical.

The activities are planned to start in 1Q 2021, which will include the Lambert Deep well, the three GWF-3 wells and related subsea installation.

Modifications to topside infrastructure aboard the Angel platform will also occur to support the Lambert Deep Project.

The topside modification is estimated to be conducted over a
15-month period.
