Germany: Renewables Industry to Create 600,000 Jobs by 2030

The GWS presented a study which shows that German renewable energy industry’s expansion will increase employment from current 382,000 to 600,000 jobs by 2030, the Reuters writes.

A variety of working positions has been taken into account in the study, from constructors and maintainers of renewable energy equipment to those who are indirectly involved in the sector.

Since Germany plans to produce 80% of its power from renewables by 2050, the employment increase is triggered by its strong solar and wind sectors.

The offshore wind industryis especially contributing the expansion in Germany. However, inadequate power grid as well as regulatory and financing issuesmake the plans to build 10,000 MW of offshore wind parks by 2020 seem rather uncertain.

As for the solar sector, it accounts for about a third of the renewables industry jobs, the same amount that is predicted for bioenergy.
