USA: O’Malley’s Offshore Wind Proposal Gets Necessary Support

Authorities & Government

The offshore wind bill, proposed by Governor Martin O’Malley, has 24 sponsors in the Maryland’s Senate, the exact number of votes necessary for the bill to be passed; The Associated Press cited Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller as saying.

Governor O’Malley’s proposed bill failed twice to make it out of the General Assembly, because many senators did not believe the potential increase of USD 2 on Maryland residents’ utility bills a month was realistic.

Now, he will reintroduce the proposal, with a standpoint that Maryland needs to move forward and take advantage of the most precious natural resource applying the available technology.

Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller also supports this energy bill, which he proved recently by making a committee swap, when Senator C. Anthony Muse, who has opposed Governor Martin O’Malley’s plan, switched places with Senator Victor R. Ramirez.
