Inpex Eyes Ichthys Field Surveys

Business & Finance

Inpex has proposed to undertake pre-engineering survey activities with aim to further develop the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin off the north-west coast of Western Australia.

The survey comprises of combined geotechnical and geophysical survey scopes and it should be undertaken between Q4 2019 and Q2 2020.

The exact timing for the start and completion will be dependent upon approvals, vessel availability, operational efficiencies and weather conditions.

Inpex is developing the Ichthys Field to produce condensate offshore for export to markets in Japan and elsewhere, and export gas for further processing at the Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Darwin.

The Ichthys Field is located within the area covered by production licence WA-50-L, in the northern Browse Basin, approximately 210 kilometers north-west of the coast of mainland Western Australia and 820 kilometers south-west of Darwin. Water depths range from 235 to 275 meters.
