Dutch offshore contractor Van Oord has completed the final part of inter-array cables installation campaign at Northland’s German offshore wind project, Deutsche Bucht.

According to Northland Power, the second phase of the cable installation, cable burial and testing of over 40 kilometers of cable has been completed.

The cable-laying campaign was carried out by Van Oord’s vessel Nexus.

Van Oord is in charge of the design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the foundations, inter array cables and offshore high voltage station, and the transportation of the wind turbines.

For the Deutsche Bucht, located in the German Bight, 95 kilometres northwest of the island of Borkum, Tekmar is supplying its cable protection system.

Prysmian’s Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke (NSW) was commissioned by Van Oord to design, produce and deliver the subsea cables.
