TE SubCom to Build Curie Subsea Cable for Google

Equipment

TE SubCom, a TE Connectivity company, has received a contract from Alphabet Inc. (Google) to design, deploy and launch the Curie submarine cable system.

The four fiber-pair system will span over 10,000 km and will link Los Angeles, California (USA) to Valparaiso, Chile, and will include a branching unit for future connectivity to Panama.

The system will add dedicated capacity to Google’s global network, enabling interconnection to other infrastructure in the region.

“We’re proud to provide comprehensive services to Google on this project. Leveraging existing TE SubCom infrastructure through our SubCom Global Services (SGS) options put us in position to be a true partner to them. Our role in the continued growth of global connectivity and information sharing is a point of substantial pride for the TE SubCom team,” said Sanjay Chowbey, president of TE SubCom.

The cable system is named in honor of science pioneer Marie Skłodowska Curie, the Polish and naturalized-French physicist and chemist who conducted research on radioactivity.
