Seatronics Adds iXblue’s RAMSES

Business & Finance

Seatronics, an Acteon company, has expanded its technology portfolio by investing in iXblue’s RAMSES system.

RAMSES is an acoustic synthetic baseline positioning system with self-contained computing, which allows simple real-time sparse array subsea navigation.

iXblue’s RAMSES is a calibration-free, all-in-one system with real-time position computation and decimetre range measurement accuracy. Requiring no top-side and no umbilical, the unit allows quick and easy deployment in new or existing fields, with iXblue or third-party transponders, Seatronics explains.

Phil Middleton, Seatronics managing director, stated: “We are delighted to have completed the purchase of these systems adding to what is already the largest available fleet of iXblue assets within the rental market.

“In the tough market conditions, reducing operational costs and increasing efficiency is more crucial than ever. This investment shows our continued commitment to our client base, offering them access to leading edge technology globally which will support this. The systems will initially be supplied as part of an integrated solution to a leading subsea contractor in the Gulf of Mexico.”

Jeremy Stuhr, regional sales manager for iXblue Houston, said: “We are excited to see Seatronics engagement with the Gulf of Mexico market increasing requirements for cost and time savings during subsea operations. A leading subsea contractor in the Gulf of Mexico will yield massive savings to subsea operations offshore that can be accredited to RAMSES integration and flexibility as a solution during their operations. I am excited to stand by Seatronics side as we bring these operational savings to the Gulf of Mexico market.”
