Maersk Oil ‘Dan Bravo’ Deep Dive

Dan Bravo Rationalisation, a challenging three-year project that has reached its midway point, is an example of the complex subsurface and diving work regularly carried out by Maersk Oil’s Danish Business Unit. The project, which will rebuild Maersk Oil’s first-producing platform, Dan Bravo, also involves the conversion of the manned platform into an unmanned platform and is the first of its kind in the Danish North Sea. The diving work with its challenging subsea removal and installation is an important part of the project.


IHC Launches Subsea 7’s SEVEN RIO

In November, IHC successfully launched Subsea 7’s 550t pipelaying vessel, SEVEN RIO, at its shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The naming ceremony was carried out by Anelise Lara, Petrobras Executive Manager for the Libra Project.

With an overall length of 146 metres, a beam of 30 metres and a Class-2 dynamic positioning system, these vessels will be equipped for transporting and installing flexible flowlines and umbilicals in water depths of up to 3,000 metres.


 Subsea Oil Storage Tank Offloaded at Lerwick Harbour

Lerwick Harbour accommodated the successful offloading of a 10,000 tonne subsea oil storage tank, destined for west of the Shetland Islands.

The sheltered port’s facilities and proximity to the Solan Field, being developed by Premier Oil 90 kilometres into the Atlantic, meant is was perfectly placed for final preparation of the tank ahead of installation.

The tank was delivered to the port on 26 July from the construction yard in Dubai by Cosco (Chinese Ocean Shipping) Heavy Lift’s transport vessel, Xiang Yun Kou.


Havila Phoenix Subsea Vessel

The Havila Phoenix is a dynamically positioned multi-role ice class construction vessel.

The Phoenix is a construction, installation and trenching support vessel available for subsea operations and is equipped with 250te active heave compensated offshore crane, 1500m 2 deck area, 140 berth accommodation and optional 2000te carousel.



Carnegie Deploys First CETO 5 Unit

Wave energy developer Carnegie Wave Energy Limited installed the first of its new generation CETO 5 wave energy units at its Perth Wave Energy Project site off Garden Island, Western Australia.

The CETO 5 unit was successfully installed on the first attempt and has now been operating for a little over a week.

The sea state conditions experienced during this initial operation period have ranged up to maximum wave heights approaching 3.5m and unit performance to date has been as expected with no faults identified.


Boskalis Scour Protection at West of Duddon Sands

Boskalis Offshore was responsible for the post-lay installation of scour protection around 108 monopiles at the offshore wind farm West of Duddon Sands. 92,000 TE of 9 – 18” armour rock was installed through the side dump unit of DP fallpipe vessel Seahorse.

Before the monopiles were installed, the Boskalis Rockpiper, the largest fallpipe vessel in the Boskalis fleet, installed 108 perfectly round scour protection filter layers on the seabed. In total 165,005 Te filter rock and an additional 11 cable crossings were installed.


Trelleborg in Phase 2 of World’s Longest Subsea Water Pipeline

After delivering buoyancy modules for the Phase 1 of the Cyprus water supply project, Trelleborg was selected for the second phase of the 80 kilometer long Mediterranean Subsea Water Pipeline.

Believed to be a world-first, the Mediterranean Subsea Water Pipeline will be installed 250 meters below the water level. The reliability and efficiency of Trelleborg bend restraints, used to restrain the bend of the structure at key points along the pipe, was key to the project.


Vroon’s New Subsea Support Vessels VOS Sugar and VOS Star

Subsea-support vessels VOS Sugar and VOS Star are being built at Fujian Southeast Shipyard, China and are due for delivery in 2015.

Both vessels, are a modern SSVs with retractable thruster and super‑silent tunnel thruster, providing a high standard of comfort for both passengers and crew.


Shell’s ‘Prelude’ World’s Largest FLNG Facility

Shell is building the world’s first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project which has the potential to revolutionise the way natural gas resources are developed.

It will help to unlock vital energy resources offshore, without the need to lay pipelines and build processing plants on land.
