Wood Group Kenny Wins Two Prestigious Awards at Subsea Energy Australia Business Awards

Wood Group Kenny (WGK) is celebrating a double success after winning two highly prestigious awards at the Subsea Energy Australia (SEA) 2013 Business Awards on Friday 30th August at The Grand Hyatt Hotel in Perth.

WGK’s first win was the ‘Industry Innovation and Technology’ award and was in recognition of the lightweight riser vacuum testing equipment designed in-house.

Vacuum testing systems, which evolved in the North Sea, are traditionally large and heavy and transported in a four tonne container via road and offshore supply vessel. By contrast, WGK’s innovative new tool weighs just 40kg compared to four tonnes (4000kg) allowing the equipment to be mobilised to remote locations in a fraction of the time via helicopter. The innovation has now been successfully brought to market for a range of WGK clients globally who have recognised total inspection cost savings of 60% as well as more accurate and reliable results.

WGK also scooped the ‘Safety Leadership’ award in recognition of their on-going commitment to safety and assurance, demonstrated by our exemplary safety record of 14 years (five million man hours) without any Lost Time Incidents (LTI). In addition, a special commendation was awarded for WGK’s Behavioural Based Safety programme which is designed to raise each individual’s safety awareness and risk anticipation 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
