Government to Release First Environmental Assessment Draft (USA)

The US Government is about to release the first draft of Florida Atlantic University’s Environmental Assessment for its planned ocean energy project, the Business Journal informs.

The university’s Center for Ocean Energy Technology plans to install undersea turbines in the Gulf Stream to generate electricity.

According to Mr. Howard Hanlon from the Centre, they have been conducting a research to better understand the currents.

He also said: “There’s been a long process associated with the lease application”, the Business Journal quoted.

The assessment is investigating the impact of the project on marine life.
