First Submarine Cable Linking Two Taiwan Straits Completed

A submarine cable between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits is set to open on Friday, China Daily quoted a Chinese mainland spokesman.

According to Yang Yi, the spokesman of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, the construction of the cable linking the city of Fuzhou of Fujian province on the mainland and Taiwan’s Tamsui, is already finished.

Mr. Yang added that once the submarine cable is put into operation it will facilitate the communications between the people on the two sides of the Straits.
