Japanese offshore drilling contractor Japan Drilling Company has been awarded a contract extension for one of its jack-up rigs.

JDC said Friday its Hakuryu-14 rig would remain on a contract with Pertamina Hulu Mahakam at the Mahakam block, offshore Indonesia.

The contract extension is expected to keep the drilling rig with Pertamina until early December 2020.

JDC did not share the dayrate agreed for the contract. Bassoe Offshore has estimated it to be around $80,000. This is an increase from the current dayrate estimated by Bassoe Offshore to be around $60,000.

Hakuryu-14 is a 400-feet operating water depth self-elevating cantilever jack-up drilling rig, built by PPL Shipyard in 2018 using a Baker Marine Design, and delivered in January 2018.
