DOF anchor handler stays with Equinor for another six months

Norwegian shipping company DOF has been awarded a contract extension by oil major Equinor for the anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Skandi Vega.

DOF said on Friday that Equinor had exercised a six-month option connected to a framework agreement awarded in February 2018.

At the time, the vessel was signed for a firm period of one year with 120 days guaranteed with two six-month options. The contract started in May 2018.

Under the new extension, the vessel will be utilized firm from mid-November 2019 until mid-May 2020.

DOF CEO, Mons Aase, said: “Skandi Vega has served Equinor since 2009, and we are satisfied that the vessel is secured firm work through the coming winter season”

The Skandi Vega is a high power anchor handling vessel designed for deepwater anchor handling during demanding environmental conditions.

The Skandi Vega is 109 meters long, with a working moonpool, a working deck area of 1,070 square meters, an anchor recovery frame, a main winch capacity of 500 tonnes, and a secondary one of 170 tonnes, and a bollard pull of 350 tonnes.
