Petrofac orders wellhead platform for Malaysian project from Muhibbah

Malaysia-based Muhibbah Engineering has received an award from Petrofac for the execution of the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of a wellhead platform (WHP) for East Cendor Field Development (Phase 1) project located offshore Malaysia.

Muhibbah said in a Bursa Malaysia filing on Wednesday that the value of the contract was approximately RM150 million ($35.6M).

The company further said that the contract would involve a substructure, topsides, new full wellstream (FWS) export facilities including water injection, gas lift local power generation, chemical injection facilities, and communications via Digital Microwave Radio system for communications.

The oil, water, and gas FWS production will be exported to the Cendor floating production storage offloading (FPSO) for processing and gas lift and water injection supply will be from Cendor Wellhead Platform Bravo (CDW-B platform).

The contract is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2019 and is expected to be completed within eleven months from the start date.

Petrofac is the operator of Block PM304, which contains the Cendor development. First oil from the field was achieved on September 23, 2006, just 16 months from sanction.

At the heart of the development is the Cendor Producer, which is a leased a Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU).
