EnscoRowan takes delivery of new jack-up rig from Keppel

Singapore’s rig builder Keppel Offshore & Marine’s subsidiary Keppel FELS has delivered ENSCO 123 jack-up rig to EnscoRowan on schedule and with zero lost-time incidents.

Built to an enhanced version of Keppel’s KFELS Super A Class design, the harsh environment jack-up rig has been chartered for operations in the UK North Sea ahead of its delivery, Keppel said on Friday announcing the delivery of the rig to its owner.

Namely, according to EnscoRowan’s latest fleet status report, the ENSCO 123 has been hired by Premier to drill two wells expected to start in July 2019 and end in October that year. The contract includes one one-well option.

In addition, Premier has hired the rig for four wells expected to start in June 2020 and end in July 2021. This deal includes three one-well options.

Data on Bassoe Offshore shows that the rig’s dayrate will be $90,000 for the first contract and $110,000 for the second one.

Tan Leong Peng, Executive Director (Offshore) of Keppel O&M, said, “ENSCO 123 is Keppel’s fourth enhanced KFELS Super A Class unit for EnscoRowan, and we are delighted to see the rig join its three predecessors that are performing offshore operations for customers in the challenging environments of the North Sea.”

Featuring Keppel’s proprietary jacking and fixation system, the KFELS Super A Class jack-up design can operate in a variety of environments in water depths up to 400 feet. The rig is designed to drill to total depths of 40,000 feet for the most demanding large multi-well platform programs, ultra-deep gas programs and ultra-long reach wells.

It features a 2.5 million pound quad derrick, fully-automated hands-free offline pipe handling systems, ultra-high capacity jacking and fixation systems, 145 person quarters, and strict noise and ergonomic standards.
