Atlantica said last Thursday that Petrobras had exercised its right to extend the BassDrill Beta contract by 180 days.

The extension starts in September 2019 and will last through March of 2020.

Atlantica has two semi tender units, the BassDrill Beta and Delta.

The BassDrill Beta semi-submersible tender assist vessel is of a Bassoe Technology, Sweden BT 3500 TSV design delivered in 2013.

According to data on Bassoe Offshore, the Beta has been working for Petrobras since 2014 and the unit’s dayrate under the current contract is $179,000. Further according to Bassoe Petrobras has options for extension until 2Q 2020.

It is worth reminding that, earlier this month, Atlantica and Energy Drilling signed a letter of intent to merge the two companies. This deal is expected to create the second largest tender drilling contractor with five rigs representing 17% of the tender drilling market.

The transaction is expected to be completed in early third quarter 2019, subject to shareholder approval, refinancing of existing credit facilities, satisfactory due diligence, and other customary conditions.
