FLNG solutions provider cleared to begin Gimi work for BP’s Tortue

FLNG topside solutions provider Black & Veatch has received a full notice to begin work on Golar LNG’s Gimi FLNG which would operate on BP’s Greater Tortue / Ahmeyim field offshore West Africa.

Black & Veatch said on Wednesday that the Gimi FLNG would be equipped with Black & Veatch’s liquefaction technology.

This follows a limited notice to proceed on work to jointly outfit the Golar LNG-owned LNG carrier with its patented PRICO technology on December 21, 2018.

The company will cooperate with Keppel which received the final notice to proceed with full conversion works for the Gimi FLNG project on April 17, 2019.

The vessel the companies will be converting is set to work on BP’s Greater Tortue / Ahmeyim field on the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal. The delivery of the vessel is expected in the first half of 2022.

When completed, the Gimi FLNG is designed to produce an average of approximately 2.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum.

This is the second FLNG project on which the Keppel and Black & Veatch are working on for Golar. The first one was the Hilli Episeyo which was completed in 2018 and is operating offshore Cameroon.
