Sovcomflot, a Russian shipping company, said its Arctic shuttle tanker Mikhail Ulyanov loaded the milestone 10-millionth tonne of commercial oil produced at the Prirazlomnaya offshore platform on Wednesday, April 10.

“This cargo of oil has become the 150th shipped from the platform since the transportation began in April 2014. Symbolically, it was also Mikhail Ulyanov who has delivered the very first cargo of oil produced at the platform five years ago,” Sovcomflot said.

Sovcomflot is responsible for the transportation of all of the oil produced at the Prirazlomnaya. The work is carried out by Sovcomflot’s shuttle tankers Mikhail Ulyanov and Kirill Lavrov, 70,000-dwt each. According to Sovcomflot, the two are the largest oil tankers built by Russian shipyards.

The two tankers were built by Admiralty Shipyards specifically for the purpose of servicing the Prirazlomnaya platform, located at the Prirazlomnoye field.

The Prirazlomnoye oil field was discovered in 1989. It is located on the Pechora Sea shelf 60 kilometers offshore at a water depth of 19 to 20 meters.

According to Gazprom, the Prirazlomnoye field contains over 70 million tons of oil, with a potential production level of some 5.5 million tons per year.
