Aker Solutions wins 5-year deal to support BP in Angola

Norwegian oilfield services provider Aker Solutions has been awarded a five-year agreement to supply brownfield modifications, maintenance, and operations support for BP’s Greater Plutonio and PSVM fields offshore Angola.

Aker Solutions said on Thursday that the scope of work covers the supply of engineering, procurement, and construction services for brownfield projects on the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels located at each field.

This includes support for upgrades to process, chemical, and marine support systems as well as refurbishment of aging piping and equipment.

According to the company, the order will be booked in the third quarter of 2018.

Aker Solutions has been working in Angola since 1998 and currently has more than 270 employees in Luanda.

As for the fields, the BP-operated Greater Plutonio development is located in deepwater Block 18 in the Lower Congo Basin. The development consists of five fields, Cobalto, Cromio, Galio, Paladio and Plutonio, discovered between 1999 and 2000.

First oil was achieved from the five fields in 2007 via a subsea development tied-back to an FPSO. Greater Plutonio was BP’s first operated project in Angola.

The PSVM field, named after four fields Plutao, Saturno, Venus, and Marte, is located in Block 31 in 2,000 meters of water. Recovery of 533 mmbbls (gross) is expected during the license period.

The field comprises 48 wells, 22 of which are initial producers, 16 are water injectors, two are gas injectors while eight are later infills.
