The driller said on Tuesday that the contract is for one firm production well, plus optional wells, starting in either 2019 or 2020. The exact start date will be mutually agreed between the two companies.

The beginning of the firm well is scheduled for February 2019 with an expected duration of 115 days and will be followed by a contract on the Norwegian Continental Shelf with OMV Norge for a one firm “high pressure high temperature” well (HPHT-well).

OMV extended its drilling contract for the Deepsea Bergen semi-submersible drilling rig in June. The contract is expected to start in the second quarter of 2019 and has an expected duration of approximately 140 days.

Meanwhile, Deepsea Bergen is working for Equinor under a deal which is expected to be completed in December 2018. Earlier this week, Equinor was granted a drilling permit to drill a wildcat well in the Norwegian Sea. The oil company will use the Deepsea Bergen for this well.
