Offshore driller Island Drilling has received a letter of award for a drilling operation with Centrica in Norway.

Centrica has awarded the contract on behalf of Production License 433 on the Norwegian Shelf.

Island Drilling said on Friday that the operation is for one HTHP appraisal well at the Fogelberg field 6506/9 – 12 with the semi-submersible rig Island Innovator, with options for two additional wells.

Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018, for a duration of 130–200 days.

Island Innovator is currently in operation on the Wisting field, License PL-537), in the Barents Sea.

In the fourth quarter period until the start date, project activities, start up activities and training of crew on board the rig will be carried out.

Earlier this year, Centrica postponed the submission of its development plan for the development of its Fogelberg discovery for 2019,  with a goal to have first gas in 2021.

Fogelberg is estimated to contain between 6.3 and 22.5 billion standard cubic meters of gas and between 1.3 and 5.2 million standard cubic meters of associated condensate.
