IKM to work on Wintershall’s wells off Norway

Business & Finance

Wintershall Norge has awarded a contract to IKM Cleandrill, a specialist mud recovery subsidiary of the IKM Group, for the provision of mud recovery services on multiple wells offshore Norway.

IKM said that the contract would cover potential development drilling campaigns on the Maria field, as well as an extension option for future exploration drilling.

The deal was signed with an initial period of three years, with options to extend to 2023.

The Maria field is located in the Norwegian Sea, on the Halten Terrace in blocks 6407/1 and 6406/3. The discovery has an estimated recoverable volume of around 180 million barrels of oil equivalent. Wintershall is the operator with Petoro and Centrica as the company’s license partners.

IKM said that the Maria development drilling is scheduled for the first half of 2017 and would be done with the Deepsea Stavanger semi-submersible drilling rig.

During the drilling campaign, wells will be drilled using the top-hole mud recovery technique. The mud recovery specialist said it would provide the MRR500 top-hole mud recovery equipment and specialist offshore operational personnel to undertake these services.
