Paradigm Flow Services in ‘largest ever Malaysia contract’

Business & Finance

Paradigm Flow Services, a UK-based oil and gas services company, has secured its largest ever Malaysian contract for deepwater umbilical unblocking technology with an undisclosed client in Malaysia.

The company said on Tuesday that the deal involves the use of its React Locate Remediate (RLR) umbilical unblocking technology which is based on the company’s Pipe-Pulse technology for non-intrusive unblocking of subsea flowlines.

Paradigm said that the Malaysian contract follows the completion of work using similar technology in the UKCS and the Gulf of Mexico which led to the potential for additional contracts in Asia, West Africa as well as the UK.

The company stated that its Subsea Umbilical Blockage Services (SUBS) equipment locates blockages using Time Domain Reflectometry techniques and the STATIS software system thus allowing offshore personnel to determine the optimum low frequency, micro pressure pulse strategy to be used and ultimately applied to the umbilical.

These micro pressure pulses cause pressure propagation of the blockage and adhesive breakthrough via the creation of micro annulus. This enables fluid displacement across the blockage and/or the blockage to be displaced slowly and carefully via any QC/DC’s and into the large bore flowline, manifold or well.

Paradigm Flow Services’ Commercial Director, Donald Ballantyne, said: “We are delighted to announce this significant contract which further underlines our presence in this important location.”
