Norway’s offshore safety watchdog, the Petroleum Safety Authority, has given an Acknowledgment of Compliance (AoC) to Songa’s fourth Cat D semi-submersible rig, the Songa Enabler.

Songa Enabler is Songa Offshore’s fourth and final Cat D rig, built for and contracted to Statoil. Songa took delivery of the Songa Enabler from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea on March 31. The rig arrived in Norway on June 28.

According to the safety agency, its assessment is that petroleum activities may be carried out using the Songa Enabler rig within the regulatory framework.

The agency said it carried out audits of the rig within several selected disciplines.

The validity of the Acknowledgement of Compliance assumes that Songa Offshore ensures that the rig and relevant parts of the company’s organization and management systems are maintained, to fulfill the terms and conditions set out in the PSA’s decision.
