Wintershall dishes out well services contracts for Maria development

Wintershall Norge AS has awarded a series of four-year contracts for supply of well completion equipment and services for the Maria development it operates in the Norwegian Sea, and for other operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The contracts have been awarded to six companies including Halliburton which will provide the largest share of the work. Tendeka, TCO, Schlumberger, PTC and Interwell will supply the remaining equipment and services.

The four-year contracts, which can be extended for up to four additional years, include supply of downhole valves, packers, liner hangers, injection systems, gas lift equipment and sand screens.

Wintershall said the wells would be drilled by Odfjell Drilling’s sixth-gen, ultra deepwater and harsh environment semi-submersible Deep Sea Stavanger.

The company also noted that there was an option to use the contracts for Wintershall’s operated Skarfjell development in the future.

They give us the certainty of a robust solution for our drilling activities in the months and years to come, as well as the flexibility to use them on our developments in the future. In a challenging market environment, these are also important contracts for the Norwegian supplier market”, said Bernd Schrimpf, Wintershall Norge Managing Director.

Wintershall and its partners will drill six subsea wells on the Maria field located at a depth of around 300 meters on the Halten Terrace in the Norwegian Sea in 2017, the company informed.

The Maria field is located approximately 20 kilometres east of the Kristin field and about 45 kilometres south of the Heidrun field on the Halten Terrace in the Norwegian Sea. Wintershall Norge is the operator of the license with a 50 percent share. Petoro has a 30 percent share and Centrica Resources (Norge) owns the remaining 20 percent.
