Gallery: FPSO Cidade de Saquarema docks at Brasa yard

Brazil’s state-owned oil company Petrobras has informed that the floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) Cidade de Saquarema, destined for its Lula field, has docked at the Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro-based Brasa shipyard.

The FPSO will operate in a water depth of 2200 meters and is scheduled to start operating in the Lula field in the pre-salt Santos basin in the first half of 2016.

FPSO Cidade de Saquarema arrived in Brazilian waters in early November, following her 57-day and 10,738 Nm (approximately 20,000 Km) voyage from China where the conversion of its hull took place.

Before Cidade de Saquarema docked, its sister vessel also destined for Lula field, the FPSO Cidade de Maricá, left the yard heading to its location in the Santos basin and Saquarema took its place.

SBM Offshore recently said that module lifting campaign would begin immediately once Cidade de Saquarema is safely berthed at Brasa. Integration of the modules fabricated in Brazil will be followed by final commissioning before setting sail in 2016 to join Cidade de Maricá on Lula field.

FPSO Cidade de Saquarema is owned and operated by a joint venture owned by affiliated companies of SBM Offshore (56%), Mitsubishi Corporation (20%), Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (19%), and Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás S.A. (5%).

The vessel has processing capacity of up to 150,000 barrels of crude oil and 6 million cubic meters of gas per day, and storage capacity of approximately 1.6 million barrels of crude oil. The joint venture will own and operate the vessel on a 20-year charter service for Tupi B.V.

BM-S-11 block, where the two FPSOs will operate, is under concession to a consortium comprised of Petrobras (65%), BG E&P Brasil Ltda. (25%), and Petrogal Brasil S.A. (10%).
